Robin Zak Armstrong

 

Robin Zak Armstrong  is a respected presenter, consultant, and trainer. Robin has more than two decades of experience in the networking industry as an end-user, vendor, and consultant. She has frequently spoken at many national and regional conferences and has published articles on multimedia topics as well as articles concerning campus and metropolitan area ATM. She has over 12 years’ experience delivering technology training including hands-on product configuration training. For the past several years, Robin’s focus has been on MPLS-based and ethernet-based networks and their applications.

Robin designed and implemented various networks using Frame Relay, ATM, TDM, and TCP/IP. Most recently, she worked defining and implementing Operations Support Systems to manage MPLS-based VPN’s, Ethernet VLAN’s, and VoIP networks. These OSS tools focused on testing/diagnostics and performance management areas. She also has implemented networks with products that transport ATM cells at gigabit speeds over a dual optical ring architecture. These networks were designed for use by the financial, retail, and government industries, as well as ISPs and cable TV companies. She has also developed and delivered product/technology training courses for internal sales and systems engineers and external customers. Her varied work experience stems from employment at Andersen Consulting, United Technologies, Ascom, and Spirent Communications

Currently as an independent consultant, Robin assists companies with developing and delivering internal and customer training for their products, market research and analysis for introduction of new products, new business development, creation of marketing tools and materials, and implementation of marketing programs.  Robin is the pioneer of the “customized classroom” which allows students to chose various curriculum items within the same course to allow for a more focused learning experience.

In addition to her industry experience, Robin’s academic credentials include a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Connecticut with a concentration in Telecommunications, and a Master of Business Administration Degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
